Why is it that serving and helping others, volunteering our time and giving community service can be so incredibly hard to do some times? Why are we as humans so prone to remember and share negative experiences as apposed to positive ones? Why is it, that when a feast is laid before you, including anything and everything you could ever want to eat, finding a tiny little hair that most definitely does not belong to your head, can suddenly ruin the entire meal! It’s called selfishness, and unfortunately, we as humans are very good at it. Sadly, in many cases this causes the stuff we ignore to suffer, including the world we live in. We see animals going extinct due to industrialization and pollution. Remains from ancient civilizations are being robbed, vandalized and destroyed, erasing history with it. There needs to be a change and it needs to start with us!
The reason why I feel this is such a big problem is because the conditions of where we live and visit are a direct reflection upon us! When a city is referred to as being “trashy,” that implies that the cities residents, undoubtedly the cause of the trashiness, are also trashy. As long as the rising generations continue to indulge in selfishness and the all-too-popular “whatever” attitude, the world around us will continue to take a backseat.
So what do we do? I am calling for change. Even if you never find yourself in Cusco Peru, you can still make a difference! It is simple and convenient. I am calling for a movement to do G.O.O.D.
Go about smiling
Offer a hand, a hug and a compliment
Organize yourself
Develop a friendship
For those of you who have been following my blog, I thank you! Even though you may not ever find yourself in Cusco Peru, I urge you to do G.O.O.D! You don't have to be all around the world to make a difference in the world. A change for G.O.O.D starts with you! We all have the responsibility to be advocates for good, especially when we are visiting other places. How can we expect the world around us to take a turn for the better if we ourselves don’t do the same? Let’s make a difference! Let's be the difference!

Go about smiling
- Everything good starts with a happy and positive attitude. Smile! It’s contagious. Plus, happy people are less likely to destroy property that doesn't belong to them!
Offer a hand, a hug and a compliment
- Be selfless! Look for someone to help, whether it be physically, or emotionally! People who serve and take care of one another, are also more likely to take care of other peoples stuff. Selfless people tend to be caring and helpful people!
Organize yourself
- Nobody likes being around someone who is messy, disheveled or scatterbrained! If everyone was more organized, we wouldn't have such an issue with littering.
Develop a friendship
- One thing everybody needs in order to spread happiness is to be surrounded by friends. Make someone’s day by becoming his or her friend!
